Festival of Natural Fibres and India

Created by Erna one year ago
I first met Paula at my weaving studio in London in 2018. We were both the founders of the Festival of Natural Fibres, along with Kishore Shah. Paula had driven over with a pick up truck full of wonderful natural wool products, display materials for her One Hut Full project. A year later we met up in Gujarat for the Indian counterpart of our Festival at Nehru Centre in Ahmedabad. After the festival we travelled through the North Western region of India together, along with Andy from Action Village India. We spent time at the Gandhi Ashram and visited many textile initiatives. In particular Paula was drawn to spending time with the nomadic groups (pastoralists) between Rajasthan and Gujarat, always keen to be close to the animals and the people that herded them, knowing at once which flocks were healthy and cared for. We chatted about our adventures in India only just recently, at her home in Devon. I shall miss her very much. Warmest wishes to her friends and family from Erna Janine in London
